Most store owners know they should blog. The trouble is the blank page: what to write about, how to make it more than generic filler, and how to link it back to products without it reading like an ad. A Shopify AI blog writer should fix that job, not add a new one.
SEO Bison is built for exactly that. It starts from your own catalog and live search results rather than from a prompt, then hands you a draft you can edit, improve, schedule or publish to your Shopify blog.
What makes it different: your catalog plus live research
SEO Bison imports your products, collections, existing blog articles and pages, and keeps them in sync every day and whenever something changes in Shopify. You choose what to write about by picking collections or products (up to 100), and the selection saves automatically.
For each topic it checks live Google results, so ideas come with a research summary rather than a guess. Product details in a draft come from your own catalog data, and research comes from search results. That is the whole recipe, and it is why the posts talk about your products instead of generic ones.
From install to a published post
- Install and sync. Open Product sync, press Sync now, and choose the collections or products you want to write about.
- Generate and approve ideas. Pick a mode, skim the research summaries and competition levels, and approve the ones worth writing. Approving starts a draft.
- Review and publish. Drafts land under Needs review. Edit, run Improve if a score is weak, then publish to a Shopify blog or schedule it.
That is the whole loop. Each step is a decision you make, so the work you do is judging ideas and reading drafts, not staring at an empty editor. The step-by-step version, using the exact menu names, is in the tutorial.
Topic ideas, three ways
Open Topic ideas and choose how to generate:
- A set number of ideas. Related products are combined into round-ups and comparisons.
- A number per product. One focused idea for each product you picked.
- A topic cluster (paid plans). One pillar guide plus 3 to 8 supporting posts. A mixed catalog splits into one cluster per product type, and you see a preview first.
Each idea shows title options, an angle, target keywords, a research summary, the products it covers and a plain “Why this topic?”. It also carries a Competition level badge (Low, Medium or High). If a keyword is High competition, SEO Bison switches to a more specific, more winnable phrase from the same idea and keeps the original as a secondary keyword. Want to check a phrase yourself first? Try keyword research for Shopify.
What a draft contains
Approve an idea and a draft starts, usually in 2 to 5 minutes. Each one is 1,200 to 1,800 words and includes:
- Key takeaways, a table of contents, at least one comparison table and lists
- An FAQ seeded from real “People also ask” questions, a summary and a “Last updated” line
- 3 to 8 links to your own products, plus a “Shop the products in this article” block
- 1 to 3 citations, only to sources found in its live research
- Your own product photos, matched to sections
- Article and FAQ structured data when you publish
On citations, the rule is strict. SEO Bison may link only to sources it actually found while researching. Any other external link is removed automatically, so it never invents a source. There are no stock photos and no generated images, only the photos already in your store.
You can also add a named author, which shows on your posts and in their structured data. Product facts come from your catalog, so a quick read before publishing is still part of the job.
A quality floor on eight dimensions
Every draft is scored on SEO, AEO (answer engines), GEO (generative search), content quality, E-E-A-T, technical SEO, UX and metadata. A draft that falls below the bar on any one of them gets automatic rewrite passes before it reaches you. We have written up what each dimension checks, including the parts that score high by design, on how SEO Bison scores blog posts. The score is a quality check on the draft, not a prediction of rankings.
Improve, edit, publish and schedule
Improve with SEO Bison rewrites a draft toward its weak scores and keeps the original if it cannot beat it. Each plan includes an allowance of improvements. It works on drafts, not on posts already live in Shopify.
Publish to any Shopify blog with tags, author, URL handle and visibility, or schedule a date and time. Bulk scheduling takes a gap from every 15 minutes up to several days, a publish time, weekdays to skip and blackout dates, with a preview, all in your own timezone. Posts sit in tabs: Needs review, Approved, Scheduled, Published, Rejected and Failed.
Autopilot, for stores that want it hands-off
Autopilot (paid plans, opt-in) runs a campaign: how many articles, how often (every 15 minutes to every 14 days), the publish time, skipped weekdays and blackout dates. You choose manual or automatic approval of ideas, manual or automatic publishing, and an article style: combined topics, one product per post, or topic clusters.
Autopilot can repeat your campaign every billing period with the same settings, and it stays capped at your plan’s included posts, so it never creates overage charges. Nothing publishes automatically unless you turn automatic publishing on.
Write for your markets
In Settings, pick up to 5 countries you sell into. Ideas and articles are written for those markets, covering wording, seasons and occasions. Research and competition are checked in your first, primary market. SEO Bison never states prices or currency in an article. Language is still English.
The rest of the toolkit
Blog posts are half of store SEO. The Shopify SEO audit crawls your storefront, scores five categories and fixes product, collection and page SEO after a preview. Keyword research shows how crowded a phrase is before you write about it. When you are ready to compare plans, the pricing page lists everything that is charged. For setup steps, see the tutorial, and for practical SEO guides browse the SEO Bison blog.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits store owners with a real catalog who want a steady blog without hiring a content team, and anyone who would rather review than write. It does not suit anyone who needs several languages today, wants posts that are not about their own products, or expects a ranking guarantee. SEO Bison does not edit articles that are already published in your store, and it shows no traffic or ranking data.
